Wood, Sea glass
1.5" x 2"

In progress

This sculpture reflects on my relationship with my mother. I have always associated sea glass with her because as a kid I would always give her any sea glass I found because I knew she loved it. After she passed away my dad gave me her sea glass collection and I keep it next to my bed just like she did. I chose the wood to hold the sea glass because I wanted it to be light and smooth. I rounded it out to add to this effect. I chose 3 pieces of sea glass from her collection and embedded them into the wood. I did this to visually communicate the strength and softness of my relationship with my mother and to remind me that I will always of a piece of her with me.
